Unadulterated fear rushed through him, and before he could look to see who had pointed the rifle at him, he felt a crushing blow to the side of his head. Consciousness left him. When he regained his senses, he had been captured by North Vietnamese soldiers. Torture began as the enemy attempted to force information from him.
